OK...I think I finally figured out why my sis' TOSHIBA 2805 laptop has been freezing. I ran memtest and it came up errors as well as freezing up. So basically, I've come to the conclusion that the memory has gone bad. Now the 128mb of ram is onboard (soldiered) onto the motherboard (great idea huh? :|). Is there any way possible of disabling it and installing ram in the available expansion ram slots? Or how about replacing them by soldiering them out and putting new ones in place? What's the route to go?

soldered on = no remove

I doubt there is a bios setting to disable onboard ram and only use the expansion slot, but it can't hurt to look.

I'm assuming this is out of warrenty?

If you are very handy with a soldering iron, you could probably do it. I would look for the finest tip possible. You would need to make sure that the chip is similar to the others. It would also be pain trying to find out which chip is the culprit. I would try if it was my machine and I would otherwise give up on it.
