Possible to remaster DVD for better quality?

I got a copy of the Phantom Edit (Yes I already own Episode I on DVD), but the image quality leaves a bit to be desired. It's rather grainy and not as detailed as my original Episode I DVD.

Is there any software around that can remove noise in a DVD? Maybe even enhance the detail, just all around improve picture quality?

I do own Premier CS3 (actually my Dad's copy), but I've never messed around with it. Can that remaster a DVD (with the purpose I just described)?

The DVD is only going to be as good as the source, and in the case of the Phantom Edit it was a home edited VHS tape so the quality isn't going to be good. There really isn't anything you can do about it. As someone linked to above there are some noise filters you could run, but its really just using tricks to hide the grain by smearing the whole picture. Generally, it looks like crap when its done.

So, to answer your question, no.

What you could do is extract from your episode 1 DVD and do the same editing that was used to create the phantom edit. Starting from DVD will look better than starting from VHS.

If you can wait a couple of years you can go through the same process with the 1080p blu-ray.
