Possible to recover data from iPod? Software Utilities?

Hey all, I had recently done a fresh install of Windows XP and backed up photos and some documents and my music on my iPod. Well I go back to reinstall everything (here is where I think I made a mistake) and install the iPod software from the CD and I go thru the steps of entering my info and then it automatically uses the iPod updater software. I then go to check the files on my iPod and everything is gone--the software "reformatted" the iPod to a "like new" state.

Any possible solutions to recover the data? Thanks in advance.
