Possible to "re-activate" an XP install?

So I've just bought an iMac on which I want to install a copy of XP under bootcamp for some rudimentary stuff I still need to do under XP. I've given my father my old PC, but in the interest of time and sanity I'd prefer to just leave the current XP install on that PC instead of having to do it all over again.

However, I can't leave that copy activated with my key if I'm going to install it on my iMac as well. My dad does have a valid copy/license for XP so that's not the issue, what I want to know is if there is any way to basically "deactivate" the current install and then "reactivate" it using his key? Can this be done, or am I stuck having to do a HDD juggle in order to do a clean install? Thanks for the help!

I suppose that's a possibility, he's got a regular commercial license and mine was purchased years ago through an educational deal at my university. I'm guessing the terms are pretty much the same though.

How would I go about finding the details of my actual license terms? I don't have any paperwork that came with it. Basically I got XP and the newest Office Suite at the time as just discs in sleeves.

You could always do a repair install, and then use his key when it asks for the key. Then everything will be intact, but it will activate with his key. Then you can just use your own for the Mac.

Would a repair install leave all current drivers and stuff intact? Would it "reset" anything?

I'm guessing my educational XP was some kind of Academic Select license which does, in fact, mean it's nontransferable.

You might have to re-install some of the drivers, but thats the most. All the programs and everything will run normally, without needing to re-install.
