Possible to purchase aftermarket extended warranty when original retailer doesn't offer one?

One of my coworkers is going to purchase an HDTV from amazon.com, but they do not seem to offer any sort of extended warranty. He would really like to have one on this tv, but has been unable to find any info online about any such companies that might offer one.

Do any of you know of any companies that will offer an extended warranty on an item purchased from another retailer, or perhaps a company that will sell an insurance policy for high dollar electronics?
