Possible to preserve RAID 0 array when changing mobos?

Hello all.

I currently am running 2 40 gig drives in RAID 0 on my Asus A7V-266E. The USB suddenly quit working on the board, so I decided to switch to the Abit KR7A-RAID. Is there any way to get the Abit board to recognize my RAID array as already fomatted so I don't have to start all over from scratch again? Since the boards use the same chipset I figured it wouldn't be a problem to get Win2K happy again if I could just use the HDs as they were.

I've done this before only because I used the same RAID card. It may be possible if the mobos have the same RAID chipset, you just have to make sure if drive 1 goes to channel one in the old mobo, it goes to the same channel on the new mobo. Just back everything up before you do it though.

Update: The Asus uses the Promise RAID controller and the Abit board uses a Highpoint one.

Does this mean I'm out of luck?

Though I am not 100% certain, I don't think you can count on your Promise array translating over to the Highpoint controller. You will need to back up your data and create a new array on the Highpoint on your new board.

Or, an add-on Promise Fasttrack100 PCI card would be able to maintain the array an be used on the new MB. But, this is really more trouble than its worth.
