In my area we just got Video On Demand service from Adelphia. I'm sitting here watching blair witch 2 and start exploring things. I think I found the IP of my cable box. The last two address areas match up with what my IP used to be for my cable service. I tried pinging it but got a request timed out. Anyone have any idea if there's any way to see if I can actually get a response from it?

I'm not to sure about that. The Explorer 3100 is DOCSIS compliant. Basically future support for becoming a cable modem. I need to get an A to A USB cable and see if anything interesting happens.

Digital cable is heavily encrypted.

It does not use any standard protocols.

But feel free to waste your time exploring.

I don't want to hack anything, I just want to see if I can get any sort of response from it. Hell, getting it networked would be pretty damn cool. I got this from a website;

Explorer 3100 - The Scientific-Atlanta set-top family has been expanded with the addition of the Explorer 3100 model, an interactive digital set-top designed for improved performance with more consumer-friendly features and packaging. Like the 2100 model, this set-top has a consumer-friendly front panel with an improved user layout and additional keys for easy access to the program guide, help information and set-top settings, plus a front-panel USB port for connecting devices such as digital cameras or camcorders.

Pretty cool that you can hook a digicam or camcorder to it.
