Possible to overclock with 4 sticks of RAM on P5B-E Plus

I've ordered 4 * 1GB Corsair PC2-6400 CL4 RAM (CM2X1024-6400C4) to go with an Asus P5B-E Plus motherboard (which is very similar to the P5B Deluxe) and an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7. I chose the RAM because it's listed on Asus' compatibility list for use with all four slots.

I've read that using 4 sticks can inhibit overclocking. I'd like a 3.6GHz clock of my E6600.

Will I have problems? Anyone got any experience of the P5B series overclocking with 4GB of RAM ?

Hitting 3.6Ghz out of your E6600 with that cooling and board is not going to be easy at all, and I bet you won't get to that speed with less than 1.5v....E6400s and E6300s overclock much better with P965 chipsets....

Mine hits 3.6Ghz with 1.460v...but I think I own a pretty damn good chip (lucky me), with 1.5v it hits 3.8Ghz but temps go too high for and everyday OC....

Note that not every E6400 is able to hit those pretty high speeds (above 3.2Ghz) with such "low" voltages.

You'll have a hard job overclocking your E6600 I guess...if you hit 3.2Ghz stable....be happy!!

About 4Gb Ram: Yes, the slowest (frequency in Mhz) or worst overclocking stick out of your 4 Ram sticks will determine the maximum overall Ram and FSB speed (1:1). Life´s like that.

Good Luck!!

Well at 3.6ghz 9x400 your ram will be running at stock speed DDR2-800 so it shouldn't be a problem if your CPU is up to the task. Getting an E6600 stable at 3.6ghz may be a hit or mis proposition however.

It's all in the voltages my friend. It seems most if not all e6600 will reach 3600 Mhz, but they will all do it at different voltages.

My e6600 on my eVGA 680 board will do 3600, sure... on 1.6V. No way thanks! However it will do 3200 at 1.39v. Good enough for me.

Wish I had more info on that board of yours -- never seen it here but from many of the reviews it looks nice.
