Hi,
I have purchased a Sony iPhone 5 Alarm Dock to work with my iPhone 5s:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICFCS15IP...ef=pd_sim_e_11
The problem with this dock as with many lightning docks in general is the non-compatible design of the lightning connector which prevents the iPhone from sitting properly on the dock when it is used with most protective cases. I really do not want to remove my TPU case every time I want to charge my iPhone on the dock.
I read on some reviews that some users did a mod to similar docks by using a dremel tool to remove the obstructing pieces surrounding the lightning connector so the iPhone can then be seated properly and able to charge itself.
I'm attaching a pic of the iPhone alarm dock, where I encircled the parts that prevent the iPhone from charging (I am still able to place the iPhone on the connector tho, it just won't charge).
Has anyone attempted or is familiar with such modification? Is it advisable? I realize the warranty would be voided. Besides finding somebody that can do such a mod as I don't posses a dremel, my biggest concern is removing too much plastic and as a result the lightning connector won't be able to support the iPhone.
Advice would be welcomed.
