I want to put a computer in my basement (where I will be locating a treadmill) and want to know if there is a way I can have a client WinXP Pro computer connect to a WinServer 2003 Standard to stream music and recorded TV shows. It would be really cool if this computer could even watch live TV over the network through the server's Tuner. In addition to that computer it would be serving three other computers as well.

I know for most of you WinServer 2003 (even Standard) would be a bunker buster but I can get it through the K12 program for significantly less then retail.

Thanks for the input! 🙂

I'm not familiar with Win2k3, but there are such thing as Dynebolic Linux that design to do this specific task. It need 64 megs of ram & run live on CD. And, on top of that it include many usefull audio/video software & employ Mosix if find others Dynebolic system on the network.

PS. Have you figured out how to setup Remote Desktop?

1. I'm no Linux expert and I like the simplicity of Windows as I have used it so much. Flame Microsoft all you want. 🙂
2. I did get Remote Desktop working perfectly, thank you for asking!

LOL!

I personally don?t care what OS I use. It is not the toolbox that is important?it is the tools within the toolbox that is important. And, just to let you know Rdesktop works wonder on Linux/Mac/Unix machine as client for Windows RDP...if you ever want to try something new.
