Possible to keep viruses from transferring when sharing a router?

My daughter needs a wireless router. Her mothers computer ,which has the modem, barely runs. She doesn't have a router since the last guy left or use a software firewall. I need to know of a good wireless n router (since the signal will be going through several walls) that can keep viruses from making there way to my daughters pc from her mothers. Thanks for any suggestions.

Local traffic is using the switch part of the Router.

The switch is a simple switch and maintains normal open Network, if there is a Virus on a computer that is Network Spreadable the Router has Nothing to do about it it would spread through.

The way to avoid Virures is to install good AntiVirus program in each computer as well as Software Firewall and AntiSpyware.

Oh boy! Her mothers pc is very old and weak, has ME installed and no disk to reformat. I doubt it can be brought back to life with every anti-spyware\ virus cleaner and she's poor like me.

I don't suppose these powerline adapters that Engineer posted he's using with AES 128-bit encryption would matter any in regards to Viruses either, correct?
I would need a switch at least for this and that wouldn't be considered a hardware firewall I don't believe. Am I right?
I would just run coax but she doesn't want wires on the side of the house 🙁

Thanks for reply Jack

None of the regular network devices is geared toward analazing the actual content of the traffic and block anything like virus content wise.

All the encryption and other security measures have to to with the network traffic as traffic and not as content.

If the two computers get the Internet connection from the same source but do not share drives locally between them the risk is reduced.

Put this on the Wireless computer and it might be that it would not get easily infected.

In addition this is an example for a fully configured ready to use small form P-4 computer with Win XP Pro installed for about $100.

I didn't think you could stop a virus with built-in software. I'm not actually wanting to network pc's, just share a internet connection without having the ability to network. I would guess this would have to be hardwired into the internet connecting devise.

She said she couldn't even afford that system which looks to be a great deal especially if it comes with the install disk. I emailed to check.

Looks like I'll go wireless and hope for the best. Thanks again
