Possible to install Win2k Pro without a CD?

a laptop i'm trying to put win2k on dosen't have a cd-rom drive, can't I transfer the cab files or anything like windows 98?

I don't think it's possible because with any Windows 2000/XP series OS you need to do a complete reinstall for a different hardware configuration in the motherboard. 9x however can do this.

Yes, If you can get to a network share or otherwise copy the contents of the i386 folder to your hard drive you can run winnt to initiate a setup from there. You may also need to make the 4 boot floppies depending on the method you choose. See "makeboot" on your 2k CD.

Try and make sure you copy the files to a FAT or FAT32 partition, so if you start up with
a boot floppy you can still find the files.
