Possible to import *.pst into Thunderbird?

So basically, my other computer's HD is dying/died. I was able to grab the main .pst off of the HD after sticking it in the freezer, but not much else...Thunderbird seems to only want to import stuff from an existing install. Is there anyway I can use this pst file w/o installing Outlook? I've only used TB for a few days now, but already like it.

".PST" is a closed, propietary format. I don't believe anyone besides Microsoft can read files in that format.
