I haven't done it before but it seems to me that if your amp has multiple imputs, it would be pretty easy to do. Just run a stereo headphone cable and connect it together.
 

Do you mean the AMP or the DECK?
Usually decks have aux inputs that you can wire devices into.

car AMP. i realize some decks have aux input, i'm just wondering if a deck can be bypassed.

What is the voltage of the headphone jack on a portable device? My old headunit had 4 volt preouts. You got to figure that you would have to amplify the signal so much more it would introduce distortion and what not.

I dont see why not as long as you had enough voltage from the outputs on the mp3 player
