I know the Dell 3007s require dual linkups, does anyone know if it's possible to have dual 3007s on the same systems?

Does anyone have such a hook up? What vid cards are required for this?

But you'd need them in SLI, right? There simply wouldn't be enough plug-ins with only one vid card.

A SINGLE card with TWO dual link DVI-D connectors can drive BOTH displays at 2560x1600. ATi 1900XTX and NV 7900GTX will.

Keep in mind that before dual head video cards came out, the only way to use multiple monitors was with multiple video cards. So yes, of course it is possible. You can have as many monitors as you want on a system so long as you don't run out of slots and your video card drivers support it.

But as ms dawn has said, you'd only need 1 card for 2 3007s.

Unless they've updated the SLI drivers, you can usually only run a single monitor while you have the cards in SLI. They likely haven't, since doing dual monitors with SLI kind of runs counter to the whole idea of SLI.

You don't need it for dual 3007FPWs, though, because Dual link DVI doesn't use two connectors. Instead, they use all the available pins in the existing DVI connector. Single-link DVI cards and cables only 18 out of 24 pins in the connector, while dual link equipment uses all 24. Since more pins are in use, you only use a single cable on the 3007FPW.

Since some cards like the eVGA 7900GT or GTX have twin dual link DVI ports, you can run two 3007s off a single card (as MS Dawn mentioned). This means that if you had money to burn and a crazy VESA mounting system available, you could grab yourself a Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal, four eVGA 7900GT cards and roll with eight 3007FPWs - presumably to join the Swordfish re-enactor's guild. (Topless Hallie Berrie sold seperately).
