Possible to have a web page to send text messages to Cell phones?

For example, I wanted a web page, password protected, that I could use to send text messages to numerous cell phones. (Sprint PCS, Cingular, Verizon, etc.)

I wanted some way for our friends to get to all of us at once, with checkboxes to only select certain users.

If anyone has any links to this specifically, that would be much appreciated. I'm not really sure where to start with this, as I've already browsed through howardforums, and wireless advisor forums.

Even Possible to do on your own?!? I'd assume there would have to be some generic API's???? Maybe the same for each carrier?!?!

I dunno about the US, but gone are the days here where you could send messages for free. There are API's out there, but you need an account with a provider which you have to pay for since you are using their services.

I know T-Mobile users have an e-mail address which is linked to their cell phone (an e-mail sent to that address becomes a text message on the cell phone). If the other providers have something similar, all you really have to do it make a page that sends e-mail.

like spartan said, just about every provider has an e-mail address that you can send a normal e-mail to. here is a (probably) partial list:

Yeah, the main real reason I want this, is because when we go out, our plans change about a million times a night. So, instead of calling everyone, find one sucker that is still at a computer, and have them notify everyone, so we can make sure we got everyone!!
