possible to have a scanner on a network?

Lets say it is an all-in-one printer, scanner, copier, fax machine hooked up to the network via network cable.

Is it possible to scan a document and have it on your pc just using a network cable? or is it for printing only?

I assume it could carry over a network. I mean, I don't see why not.

We have konica minolta networked bizhum c350's that do network scanning. Not sure about the cheapy all in one's tho
