Possible to go from ios2 > ios3?

I just picked up an ipod touch second gen but it has ios2 on it. When I choose to upgrade in itunes, the only available option is io4 which I don't really want because of the horror stories about responsiveness/battery life. Is it still possible for me to go from ios2>ios3?

From what I hear, iOS 4.1 really isn't much faster than 3 except for maps. Unfortunately. iOS 3 is definitely better to use. Just google for instructions. You can find dumps and install them manually through iTunes.

Do you mean to just follow instructions that tell people how to downgrade from ios4>ios3?
