Possible to get a new key forged?

I just bought a 1965 Honda S90 motorcycle, but unfortunately it didn't come with keys, understandable considering its age.

If I pull the ignition switch and the steering lock, can I take them to a local hardware store and get some keys made?

If so, about how much would that cost? I can probably get a brand new ignition switch with key on Ebay for $20 or less, but I of course want to go with whatever's cheaper.

Also, I don't have a title yet. When I bought the bike I just had the previous owner fill out an SUT 1 (sort of like a bill of sale), I don't plan on going to get it titled until I'm done rebuilding it, will that pose a problem?

First get the title now before you put any money into it.

Yes if you take everything apart a locksmith should be able to help you. Some can even cut a key while it is still apart. But probable cheapr to take them the lock cyl.

Yeah I guess I'll head to the DMV sometime this week and see if I can go ahead and get it titled. I tried to get the guy I bought it from to get me a title, but he said the old lady he bought it from (who I'm pretty sure is the original owner, it was her son's bike) was hard to get a hold of.

The bike is pretty much complete though, it just needs new rubbers and gaskets. The most expensive parts will be mirrors and turn signals to make it street legal, in the end I probably won't be dumping more than $100-200 or so worth of parts into it.

I'm heading to Ace Hardware soon to pick up an impact driver and a few other items, I'll ask the clerk about the keys while I'm there.

Get the title first, then take the lock assembly to a locksmith. They know how to cut a key based on the tumblers. Probably cost you $10-20.

is removing the steering lock something trivial or does that require a repair manual?

I was in the exact same boat with a 78 Yamaha. The guy had a title, but no key. When I called the dealer to see if they could get me a key, they told me the ignition had a code stamped into the metal. Armed with that code I took the new title showing I owned the bike to a good lock smith. The locksmith looked up the correct blank based on the year of the bike, and was able to cut a key based on the code I gave him.

Take a look on the ignition, my had the code stamped in right next to where the key goes. It might save you from having to pull the ignition.

I got the ignition switch out today, it was easier than I thought it'd be. The back-end was covered in dirt so I'm not sure if it has a code stamped into it, I'll have to clean it off and check tomorrow, but it is a 65 so I'm not so sure they were doing the whole code thing back then. I'm too tired to mess around with anything more today, been wrenching on it since this morning. The steering lock is only held in by 2 screws, so it'll be an easy pull, I'll do that tomorrow.

That ignition switch you linked is for a newer model S90 I believe, mine has about 4-5 wires while that one only has 2, not sure if it would work with my bike. But parts pop up on Ebay for these things pretty often, so it shouldn't be a problem.
