At work we were ripped off and the thieves cut the wires in order to steal the PC towers.

The boss is giving away the 19" CRT monitors that have had their VGA connectors cut off.

Any easy way to fix the wire? (without openning the monitor)

Free is a great price!

If the VGA cable is hard wired to the monitor, then you do not have a choice but open the CRT and replace the cable. Some 19" monitor do not have hardwired cable instead they used cables with connectors on each end. Replaceing a hardwire VGA cable is a cinch, as long as you know what you are doing. Either buy a new cable or you can just cannibalized from old non working CRT's. They are all the same including the color coding. Splicing might work but not recommended since it will generate a lot of noise in the signal due to the poorly insulated connection.

Hi, I have repaired several CRTs by splicing a salvaged cable off a scrapped Monitor. Also several by replacing the missing connector. If you are handy with soldering it can be done also splice the shields. Wrap the unshielded splices and wrap the whole mess with aluminum foil before insulating the splice. Neater with Heat Shink tubing on the outside. No interference problem. Good Luck, Jim
