Possible to find drivers for OEM computers?

If i reformat a HP computer using a plain normal windows cd (because their cd has too much crap) , is it possible to find the drivers for the graphics card, motherboard, sound and all that stuff from the net?

They should be found at the HP site. Under support normally. You could also try googling your specific HP model number and drivers. that has worked for me in the past when i was looking for drivers for old computers where the original driver cd has been lost etc. Also, would your hp install cd have a drivers directory if you browse it? You could possably just have windows search that cd for the drivers after you install off a regular windows cd.

likely, windows will have default drivers that work just fine. You'll only have to search if you see some exclamation marks in the device manager.

Yes. If you go to www.hp.com and click on support and drivers I believe, you will find a text box to enter your product number. From there you should be taken to a page where it will ask you what OS you're using. After that you should be able to find the drivers you need.

However, if your computer is very old then that is another story and you are probably going to have to search the web which is a bitch to do.

Do they still have support for products which is over the warranty period already? Also, will they still have driver for their computers bought over 3 years ago?

hP doesn't actually make their own lappys. Everything in them is fairly generic. It's not hard to find drivers - if not on hP's site, then on DriverGuide.com, etc.
. But as another said, Win XP will likely have drivers that will work built in. You may have only one or two marks left in Deg Mgr after the initial install. But there are usually newer drivers for things like video or sound and even hP may not have the latest on their site.

they will most likely have win98/2000 drivers if it's really old, but you have to hope winxp default drivers work fine, otherwise you'll be searching the net for custom drivers 😀

for example, on an old gateway laptop i have, i had to search for the sound drivers after i put xp on it. the gateway s upport site only had winxp/2000(and i think nt) drivers available. This is a year old laptop, so if it's within 3? *shrug* just have to go check out the site. only way you can find out for sure.

Ok thanks a ton for all your help everybody! The OS that came along with the computer was Windows XP. So I guess there shouldn't be any problem hopefully. Will find out when I go over again.
