Possible to extract sound card driver from Windows XP

I have 2 identical laptops. One was infected with a virus and the only thing thats not working after a reformat and install is the sound card. The driver download direct from the manufacterer doesn't seem to work. I was wondering if I could somehow extract the driver from the good laptop and install it on the newly reformatted computer?

Check the working laptops sound card in device manager
- go into properties of it
- go to the drivers tab
- open Driver Details

?copy all the files listed there to another folder and then copy that folder to the not working laptop and point the device manager to the folder for drivers?
