Possible to do this in XP?

Right now I have my user account (administrator), and the Guest account turned on. The administrator account is password protected, and I also currently have the screensaver prompt for teh password on resume.

Can I have the screensaver go to the welcome screen so that another user can log into the guest account?

Right now, when I resume from the screensaver, I only have the option to log back into the administrator account.

There has to be an option to log on to the guest account from there, right?

I don't see that option. All I see is, "on resume, password protect."

Weird. You do have fast user switching enabled right? If it is, in the screen saver box next to the Wait XXX minutes the checkbox should say "On resume, display Welcome screen".

I do have fast user switching enabled, but the option is not there. Does it not work with an administrator account, and a guest account only?

Nope, just tested it with an admin account. Are you on the actual 'administrator' account, or one with admin privs (mine has admin privs, not the actual). Only thing I can think of right now...

Ok from a search in google, i did a registry hack to always sho the administartor account on the welcome screen, and that brought the option back to the screensaver.

Now on the welcome screen, I have the:

1.Administrator account
2."My Account"
3.Guest account

If i go into the user control panel, I see that both the administartor account, and "my account,' are called administrator.

Did I do something wrong? I only want to have my account, and the guest account on the welcome screen. Why is there a seperare administrator account, when my account is already set up as administrator?

there is always a generic administrator account called "Administrator". If you really don't want that account you can delete it since your account has administrator privileges, although Windows won't allow you to do this until at least 1 other account is a full administrator.

Dont delete it, it's used for recovery purposes. As for "How do I change my account to full-administrator?" you are, so don't worry about it.

Hmm. Man this is weird, if I have just my account (administrator) and the guest account, I only get the "on resume, password protect," option. If I have the "Administrator," my account, and the guest account, I can see the "on resume, welcome screen," option.

Any suggestions?

It is really annoying that I cannot log in under a guest account, from the screen saver. Anybody know of a registry tweak, that will give me this option back?

I figured it out!

I downloaded .NET Framework ver 1.1 from the Windows Update site, and the option returned!

I just figured it out too.. here the scoop. If you only have one user on the system the 'show welcome screen' option changes to 'on resume password protect'. Apparently the 'guest account' doesn't count as a second user.

The .net framework does install another user (even tho it's not on the welcome screen) and that seems to make the option show up. Actually, I'd consider this a bug, but I doubt anyone else has noticed before
