Almost like an alergy to it?

I have given it up for now, I used to go out, drink quite a bit and get a hangover the next day and deal with it.

Nowadays I drink hardly anything, say 5 bottles throughout a whole evening, get as "drunk" as I used to on 5 bottles...but the next day I feel like crap....have indegestion...cramps....

I think it's almost your bodies way of saying "enough!" so I am going to comply!

Are you drinking the same stuff you've always had? Certain alcohol cause hangovers more easily... ie, red wine is A LOT worse than vodka.

Yes, you can develop an intolerance to alchohol- I had the same thing. It is your body's way of asking you to lay off the sauce and you're wise to comply.

Yes it is totally possible and usually happens when you go from drinking on a regular basis to not drinking at all. This happened to me. I used to drink quite a bit socially in college and then all of a sudden I just stopped, for no reason. I didn't drink for several years. Once I tried to start drinking again I found that I would get headaches, severe ones, whenever I drank. This still happens, but mostly with beer. It seems to be getting better.

It seems to be getting better... like you're still drinking even with the headaches?

Yes it is possible. The loss or lowered levels of alcohol dehydrogenase in the body result in the body being unable to process the liquor.

I actually am allergic to alcohol...can't even use aftershave since I would start having trouble breathing. On my 21st bday party, my friends took me out to a bar, and I had half a shot of a midori sour (real sweet drink), and I felt like my throat was clogged, had trouble breathing, and my skin started itching a lot (hives) that lasted a couple days. No alcohol for me after that!

Hey that's my situation too. I used to drink a ton in college and get hangovers maybe 1 in 10 times. Now when I drink even a fraction of what I used to and maybe once a month or so I get nasty hangovers. I guess my body said, "have fun in college and now that you are out, we don't want anymore of this crap inside of us".

Sucks doesn't it....especially when you look back on your college years and remember how drunk you used to get :(
