I recently purchased a netbook from a friend, and although I got a hell of a deal, I absolutely hate the touchpad. It is so bad, that it pretty much renders the netbook unusable.

This is an Acer Aspire AOD-150. The buttons L and R are joined into one panel, and that damned panel is so stiff, that it is impossible to drag and drop things in windows or scroll web pages up and down. Any action that requires holding the mouse button and dragging, is a pain!

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the touch pad on this thing to something usable?

I googled this already, but couldn't find anything useful.

Considering the basic cheapness of the netbook and that you got a "good deal," I would guess that such a change would not be cost effective - probably cost more than you paid for the netbook.

Why not just disable it in BIOS and use a mini mouse such as the VX Nano?

Most touchpads on netbooks are pretty much unusable because of how small they are.

But no, you really can't replace them... a seperate mouse is your best (and only) bet if you really despise the touchpad.

Awesome little mouse too. I concur!
