Is it possible to bind 2 cable modem connections to create a super awesome fast connection? Like in the days of diamond's shotgun modems.

The general answer to that is no. You could only do simple load balancing and failover with two connections of that type. I'm sure someone else might have other suggestions. But as for creating more bandwidth by bonding them, no way. :D

The DOCSIS platform does not allow modem bonding, as there is no need for it once you step away from the 56k slowdem. If you want to a faster connection, pony up some dough for a fatter pipe.

Not necessarily true. With two modems you can get higher throuput. There are routers/programs that will combine them. jack posted a link.
