Possible scam? $49 to buy audio equip. at wholesale prices?

I found this over at KickAssAudio. For $49 they're offering a 1 year membership to be able to buy audio at wholesale prices and have access to more products. Is this for real, or is it a known scam?

Well they're website is fugly and quite honestly an ugly website makes me think a company isn't very serious or successful.

mwave.com has an ugly site interface but they are the best

I am always VERY skeptical of these kinds of promotions, and electronics are already a very short-margin retail item, so you might have to buy a fair amount to get to the point where your savings exceeded $50. I will stick to the hot deals in Hot Deals, thanks very much.

I work at best buy and my discount on car audio is about 50%. The prices at kickassaudio for the items I am familiar with at best buy ...is about a 25-30% markup

Don't know, might be a decent deal. The idea is like a Sam's Club or Price Club or BJs.

You a pay an annual membership fee to be able to buy bulk items for wholesale prices. These guys seem to be offering the same thing.

Still seems a little 'shady', I personally would stay away.

I just called and talked to the guy. He seemed nice and straightforward. I asked him some prices for things I know at best buy. His prices are about 10-20% higher than best buy (either he still wants a 10-20% profit, or since best buy buys in quantities of like 1 million, that's the best price he can get.)

So I might do this since best buy doesn't really have what i want anyway

Those prices are decent...some of the items seem kinda high though. Have you checked out soundhabit and carmedia? Soundhabit has the same thing...cept its 99 dollars to get stuff wholesale. Its not really worth it unless you plan on purchasing alot of stuff.
