Possible Refurb ASUS VIA KT333 RAID 1394 ATA133 USB2 for $54.33 at CDW

Parstron

Senior member
This deal was borrowed from another board.
I am guessing this is a refurbished board since they have another one with the same part number for $129.

CDW clearance is becoming my new hunting ground.

The ony problem here is that CDW usually has VERY limited quantities and continues to take orders AFTER selling out, THEN they contact you and cancel, or just cancel your order and never tell you. Its a real craps shoot and MOST people wont get any of the items.

This board apparently is sold out. They had 1! Its sold, but not removed from the web site.

AHHHHHHHHHHh.

Does this board come with the 2 PCI add-ins for the USB and firewire and the IO Plate? Hopefully you don't get shafted like Newegg's refurbs.

A7V333

No mention of add-in cards, should be onboard.

I ordered 2 10GB hard drives from them and it says "Backordered". I'm going to give them until friday to change that status, otherwise I'm going to curse them out.

I ordered a couple for Will Call for the h*ll of it. I'm about 10 minutes from Vernon Hills, IL, so I can just go pick them up if I get them. I don't have to pay for it until I pick them up anyway, so why not? I have a feeling that unless CDW gets totally swamped with orders, they might try and fill the orders even if they don't have any in stock. That's how they've been in the past for me. We'll see though.

BTW.. What tells you guys that this is a possible refurb? I've never known CDW to sell refurbs other than maybe monitors.

can we please stop posting "Hot Deals" from CDW B-Stock??

i called them about this "deal" yesterday to order it... turns out they had (1) in stock but it had already been sold... so he offered to sell me a brand new one for $155. their inventory management software doesn't take sold items off their site, so 100 people can order the same item but only the first person will get it.

order all you want, just don't expect to receive anything.

🙁 Deal is dead). Was a grade "B", but only 1 available, ordered last friday but even then too late. They still have not updated there inventory online, but I did call and there are none available for $53.

And if you are looking in the refurb section, be sure to take notice of the "Does not come with these items" verbage, posted in bright red

I learned the hard way to not ignore that, in hopes of getting a full retail box... Without the proprietary backplate, you're kinda screwed unless you own a Dremel, and want to do some fabrication.

Can you say BAIT AND SWITCH ?
Bet you can!

Seems like CDW has experienced a change in management. They have a life time Resellersrating of 7.69, but a 5.74 rating in the last 6 months, including 5 angry comments in the last few days about bait and switch crap, not just with these boards, but a TV as well. This seems to be their new modus operendi, so lets take them down a peg or two so other have to go through this PITA.

My particular tale of woe, I ordered Sunday and got a phone call at 6 AM Monday to confirm my phone number. The caller was obviously a little abashed that she'd awakened me from a deep sleep, but any fool can do the math. Then I got a call Wednesday morning saying that the mobo was out of stock, but I should be glad, because it was funky and used anyway (which wasn't mentioned on their site, or I wouldn't have bothered, since I've had bad luck with refurbs). But would I like to buy a nice new similar board for only $179. Why is the horse you rode in on walking kinda funny?

I would not bother with reselleratings.com, the merchant earned their rating by providing service, and punish them for refusing to sell something at a loss is just not fair.

I agree. You people knew damn well that there were limited quantities of this product. You knew there was a chance you would not score a board.

Stop whining like little bitches. There is no reason to ding their reseller ratings.

Just how were we supposed to know that there were limited quantities of the board? There was no inventory count on the web site. In fact, there was scarcely anything on their web site that even told you what you were getting, which is why there was so much confusion about the model motherboards that were being offered. Moreover, there was no direct reference on the page to the fact that the boards were refurbs or returnes except an obscure B2 reference that I certainly didn't understand. And they could afford to have staff call me at 6 AM Monday morning to confirm my phone number to order a board that was long out of stock at that point, but they couldn't be bothered to update their web page to reflect that this board was gone until Tuesday. This must be a new wrinkle of that "decent customer service" you are going on about.

Were we supposed to guess from the price alone that what they were offering were a couple of refurbs? I don't think so. You can get a Biostar KT333 board for $62 delivered from Newegg, a company with a great reputation. This board was only $3 cheaper delivered (albeit it did have hardware sound and RAID).

They earned their RSR in the past by providing decent customer service in the past. Obviously there has been a serious change in direction in the company's policy and it is our duty as well informed consumers to make sure that their RSR reflects that change. Read the old RSR reports. This kind of crap never happened before. There lifetime rating is still a very much too high 7.59, though their 6 month ratings is a somewhat more realistic 4.69 now. Keep it up, folks.

🙁
It truly is a shame, Advocate, that you cannot see the reasoning here.
CDW did not send an o.o.s. email (fair-enough), but used the personal phone number they collected to call and prompt the purchase of a more expensive option. Upon investigation, you'll find that they seem to have a habit of doing this. I suppose that you might think that CDW doesn't know how to list quantities available on their site, or perhaps they had no idea that such a price would spark a terrific number of purchase inquiries. I believe they are not so simple-minded.

Most bargain hunters are not expecting to bankrupt a company by insisting on the continuance of an obvious pricing error or insist the company supply endless quantities of a ?clearance? (as listed on their site) item. Sure, we are disappointed if we don?t get in on a gonzo bargain, but that?s all part of shopping for deals. But - when a company shows a pattern of deceptive practices- as others have attested to- they should be dinged.

I haven't received my phone call yet for the 50 that I ordered, so maybe I'll get it? 😉

I'm kidding. I only ordered 5 for the heck of it before I found out that it was a "B" stock and that it wasn't available. I figure that I'll just let CDW contact me and cancel the order.
