POSSIBLE REASON WHY WE GET OUR 2.53s FROM OUTPOST.COM WITH BENT PINS.

I sold my 2.4 to somebody and used the plastic casing OUTPOST.COM used to ship my 2.53 to me ,here's what happened:

The good news is that I received the P4 2.4 Ghz cpu in the mail just now.
The bad news is that there are a bunch of bent pins on the cpu.

The plastic package that you used to hold the cpu is in reality the cpu package for an Amd cpu, which is much bigger than an Intel P4 cpu. Someone had mistakenly placed a white label on the top of the plastic cpu package indicating that it was for a P4 2.53 cpu. But that was a MISTAKE. This package cannot safely hold an Intel P4, and there are at least 7 or 8 bent pins.

I will ship this back to you this afternoon, via Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. I will enclose the cpu in a proper P4 plastic case, so that it will sustain no more damage, and I will include in the package the plastic cpu package which you used.

when you receive a cpu in a package that obviously pretty much all of the time yields bent cpu pins, why would you use the same package to ship to someone who bought your cpu lol?

anyways, i havnt actually seen the packaging, but i suppose it could be a factor

bahh... They do "snap" in the package. Outpost just does not cushion them in the box very well. I have mailed MANY of these in the same box that they cam in... I just packed them properly, which is something that Outpost does not do.

yea the chip can easily pop out of that container ~ should put some foam on top of the chip so it cant come out.

its a very bad package to ship a cpu in :|

i was under the impression that those bent pins were due to mishandling/ or maybe the way they stored by outpost staff..but not because of the plastic casing .

Yeh, they should put a piece of foam on top of the chip if they have to use that container..., nothing is holding the chip in place
