I spent a long time looking for a KitchenAid mixer for my wife, but since I am a hot deals addict, I could not bring myself to pay full price.
I found a 325W, 5 quart mixer for $219.45 shipped.
It is a "reboxed" version which Mike (CSR that I spoke with) told me that it was most likely a demo or display unit that has been reconditioned by KitchenAid and still has the FULL WARRANTY!
This was the deal closer for me.
They do accept AMEX, so you have some additional protection (especially with Blue) if you use your AMEX card.
The site does not look like much, but when I called them this afternoon, the phone only rang about 3 times before Mike answered and answered my questions and took my order.
I was going to wait to post this deal until I felt a little better about it, but I got an email about an hour ago from them and UPS stating that it had already shipped.
I'm hoping that this will be benificial to some of you who like to cook/bake or have significant others that do. Comparison sites have this from $375-400.

Some of us don't put as much bank in stereotypes as you do Jenova314. I'm quite certain my wife would enjoy this, but thank god you're here to burst Razorbacks bubble. He might have been happy with his purchase and god knows we couldn't have that.

I love to buy kitchen stuff. Amazon has free shipping on kitchenware over $149. My first Hot Deals post was for some Calphalon cookware with MIR + $15 off of $100 + Free Shipping.

Costco.com has this same mixer (new) for $239.99 -$20 coupon, making the final price $219.99. Of course, you would still have to add tax and shipping, but this might be a good option for some people.

KitchenAid makes the best mixer, by far. These babies are built like tanks and last forever. My wife is still enjoying the one I gave her over 10 years ago.

General word of advice: The best gift is something the recipient actually wants and can use. My wife happens to enjoy cooking. If your wife/gf/bf/whoever doesn't like to cook, then don't buy them cooking gear.

My wife also enjoys being barefoot and pregnant, which is exactly as god intended. (That's a joke!) Actually, though, she does enjoy being barefoot and pregnant.

While I do think that the kitchenaid mixer is a good piece of equipment, I just cannot see myself paying over $200 for what is essentially an electric motor on a stand.

I admit, it's well constructed and nice to look at, but knowing how much these things really cost, I just can't do it. I think the willingness of yuppies to go for this kind of stuff allows them to keep prices ridiculous like this...

I think this is a great price for this. I used to work for a retailer that sold these for much more, even with my discount. Even though I'm not married, I can still say this would be a nice present for many wives (or significant others), and possibly some husbands that want to be the next Emeril.

So where do you guys meet women that like to cook. Last one I knew was my mother and she's been gone for 15 years. My wife's a home econ major and I wouldn't trust her around a box of jello. Any way dbLA is right, I still got my kitchen aid food processor from 25 years ago I used to grind up fish heads in it to make cat food. The only thing tougher in consumer quality is a Vita-Mix.

Razorbacks, BUY THAT MIXER....If she likes to cook, I guarantee she won't be dissapointed.

I love to cook so my wife bought me that same mixer for Chrismas several years ago. It turns out I think she really got it for herself. Hell, she's upstairs using it right now making Christmas cookies.

I tell you what, my grandmother has had one of these ever since I can remember (30+ years). Never required service, parts replacement, NOTHING. If you want something you can pass on to your grandkids, this qualifies easily. This is like the Tim Allen line of mixers........Only thing I've ever seen bigger and better is a Hobart floor model..........lolol

Woa--have not had a chance to check this post.
Never intended this to be sexist at all. My wife enjoys cooking and has regularly made remarks about how much she would like to have a KitchenAid mixer.
Granted--if you can get this thing in the original box (at Costco) with the coupon, go for it.
One of my wife's best friends paid over 350 for hers earlier this year new.
The only reason I said that it was hot is that after talking with the guy on the phone, he assured me that these things were display models that had never been used, plus the shipping is DIRT cheap on something so heavy--and the FULL warranty still applies.

Do and say what you will--but my wife will love this gift.:)

Your wife will LOVE that mixer, if she's into baking at all and with the different attachments you can buy you can greatly increased your baking/cooking skill base. It's like the Cadiilac of mixers !
