possible new porsche 914?

seem VW is going to unvail a mid-engine 2 seater in LA in november and appearently Porsche may be the one to produce it.

Much as I'd love to see it, I worry about what it will look like. One of my favorite things about the original 914 (as well as the 924/944/968 series) is that it doesn't try to look like the 911; it was allowed to be its own car. I love the 911, don't get me wrong, but I hope that the new 'teener, if it's true, will be as uniquely styled as the original.

I'm also a little worried about their ability to get the car down to 2,100 pounds like the original.

if it does, I like it. and the blue one kind of reminds me of the old VW Scirocco

If it looks like the yellow one, we're in business. The blue one, IMO, looks more like someone mated the back end of the new Camaro with the front end of a current Civic.

Looks a little to much MR2ish in those pics.

But I do agree it shoud not look like a smaller/cheaper 911. They could use some of the same brakes, suspension, etc... but it needs to be its own car.
And I doubt they can keep it under 2500 pounds with everything that is required today.

Chassis by Audi? The R8 may be a winner, but every other car Audi makes is out-handled by the competition. I'd be more excited if this was a Porsche design rather than the other way around.
