I have been getting the itch to upgrade but I don't really know if it would be worth it. Is the new generation stuff a significant jump or should I wait a year or two?
What I use my PC for besides basic internet use.
- Encoding movies/video editing (not often) and some picture editing (not often)
- Ripping DVD/Blu-ray collection
- Gaming, but I split it up with a console. I basically play anything but FPS on the PC
- Folding@home (in the winter when its cooler in the house)
My current rig
OS - Win 8 64bit
mobo - GIGABYTE GA-M68MT-S2P (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3451#ov)
RAM - 4 gigs patriot g series PGS24g6400elk ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220396)
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8GHz ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103656)
DVD - memorex DVD 16+/-DL4RWID2 (16xDVD / 48xCDR / 4xDVD+RDL)
Blu-ray - ASUS BR-04B2T (32x (CD) / 8x (DVD) / 4x (BD)
GPU - Diamond 6770 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814103197)
SSD - Kingston HyperX 3K 240 GB SATA III 2.5-Inch 6.0 Gb/s
PSU - Raidmax Rhino SP450y Output: +3.3V@20A, +5V@26A, +12V@21A, -12V@0.5A, -5V@0.5A, +5VSB @ 2.0A
Windows score - 7.1
I know my RAM isn't the fastest and the GPU is crap, but if I upgrade my GPU I'm probably gonna need to upgrade my PSU then I'm gonna say F it and want to build a all new rig Haha.
