i made a thread in the technical --->here<--- thinking that i may have a forum, i found out that the file i got sent through MSN Messenger wasn't actually sent by my friend but it sent itself to me, she had the same problem, so if anyone has MSN and i know many people do beware of this happening to you.

i can't seem to get anything solved at the moment, the virus is stopping me from using a few programs and it's also stopping me from instaling many programs, including virus scanners, which is kind of annoying cause i can't get rid of it now.
i installed half-life and counterstirke last night and it was working fine, but now i get this message:

'your half-life\ executable has been modified. please check your system for viruses and then re-install counterstrike'

if anyone knows of any other way i can get rid of it without deleting all my files please please help me out and others that may have the same problem.

i'm not sure if this is an old or new virus or if it has been solved yet, but i haven't heard of it before.

thanks

Sounds a lot like PEmagistr.A to me.....although I may be mistaken with so many out there right now. I know there are at least 7 variations of PEmagistr.A and one thing common to all, if I remember correctly is the inability to install or run many programs. Again, I've worked on so many systems with viruses lately......I can't be sure. Do a search on Google for PEmagistr.A and there is a patch available.

You could also go to Trend Micro and do a free online scan that should get rid of it!;)

Good Luck!:)
