Possible issue with DPC latency checker?

I ran dpc latency checker on my computer without adjusting anything and I got this result:

I didn't know where those spikes were coming from, so I tried disabling my integrated LAN adapter and, for whatever reason, it got rid of the spikes:

So the obvious question is: what is my network adapter doing that is causing those regular spikes in latency?
