Sounds a little fishy to me...A 10% Buyer's Premium
will be added to the purchase price of each item. If they were really going out of business doesn't it seem like they would have one big auction, instead of spreading out 5,000 Compaqs to the various locations...Seems kind of fishy.

"MASSIVE BANKRUPTCY AUCTION
Computers, Furniture & Equipment of
More Than 50 Locations Will Be Sold
Across the U.S.A"
Looks more like 14 Locations in the Eastern states.
Thanks,

CrazyJake, the items were already spread out in those locations. It would cost more to ship it all to a single location.

And a Buyer's premium is not unusual at all for auctions.

Quit bumping this to the top, ufwald. It's not like the For Sale section. If people find it worth while, they will bump with their own posts.

Just curious, these are used computers not new?

I just viewed the long list of lots to be auctioned tomorrow and it will definitely take all day long to get thru this auction. You better bring you a cooler and lunch. Most auctioneers set up little kiosks that charge an arm and a leg.

Well, I guess it might be worth my while to travel from Snellville to Roswell.

What was Inacom anyway?

For all who are interested, there is a burgerking at the corner of Alapharetta Highway and Hembree Rd. We can all meet there and then go to the auction.

If you guys find some good deals at this auction, please put a post in this forum. Nashville is only about 2 hours away, and I would LOVE to get some good computer stuff for cheap.
Thanks

killabeas,

You must have a good radar detector! It takes me at least 3 hours staying with the fast traffic from Atl(I-285/I-75) to Nashville.

We will let you know so you can show up for Sunday's auction (if there's anything left after we get our greedy little hands on it)

Depending on how many "major resellers" are there we might just get some good deals since there are so many lots. I imagine we will see a lot of this stuff on *bay!

Best of Luck to my fellow Atlantans!

Thanks for the info!

Anybody went there (georgia) today?
if yes, please post some sample price. Been too couple auctions and people are bidding like crazy and over paying.

also, are they following the item number or they just auction randomly?

Thanks.

So who all is going on Sat.? It would be nice to kinda know... since I don't want to make prices higher for a fellow AGN'er :)

I am going early in the hope that the geeks sleep in and come later in the day... I sure woldn't mind a 21inch Monitor!

I will defenetly post and let you guys know what I got. It would be nice if we all could do that so our fellows know if it is worth our while.

I'll be there!
Just look for the big fat hick lookin' guy! I shore wouldn't mind larning ta talk like them thar auctioneers! (just ribbin ya 403)

Yea, I'm usually dissappointed at live auctions cause most folks leave their common sense at the threshold. Hopefully, it won't be too crowded and since their are so many lots we stand a good chance at some good deals!

Ya'll lemme know how the deal hunting goes. I have prior commitments tomorrow (Saturday) morning so I can't make it up there. If I'm not too hungover after the Tech game (gotta drink my sorrows away don't ya know?), I'll hit up the one Sunday morning.

Yummy.. Compaq Proliant servers, big ole HP printers, Tektronix printers, hubs, switches, UPSs... BIG monitors. Sheesh. This has the possibility of turning out some awesome deals.

Just read through the terms. The auctioneer can group lots. I can just see getting there, "15 HP Vectras...", or, "5 HP 5SIs" or crap like that where there is no way I could deal with all the stuff.

Just as a heads up, I've been to a couple of these auctions and it is often very, very difficult to get anything for a cheap price. Professional firms with deep pockets usually are there.
