I have ordered from them several times, and all went well. Although I only ordered wire and some accessories.

As for your pick in speakers, I'm not familar with the BOSS brand.

DO NOT BUY NO-BRAND CAR SPEAKERS!!! Brand name speakers are cheap enough! You might as well wrap a piece of cardboard and magnet together if you get those speakers...

Boss is name brand. These are not bad speakers for the $100 price. These are way better than optimus/kraco crap for the same price. I usually go with Mb Quarts, but these I would use in my Gf's car. Not a bad price for mid level gear. Boss isn't exactly prime rib, but definately not taco bell grade.
Edit: most sites I looked at had these fro $80.00+ I have heard these and they really don't sound that bad escpecially not for $40.00.

This seems like a pretty good deal.. At least the crossovers aren't built in like on my JBL's which I paid $60.00 at Fry's.

boss is as close to no-name brand as a 'brand name' can get. but if you're not an audiophile and need component speakers, i guess these should do for $40. If you really want nice components for a decent price, get Infinity kappas for around $175

oh and sounddomain is a pretty good retailer.

that's a good price. Anything aftermarket tends to sound much better then most stock. For 40 bucks, you can't go wrong.

depends what you want. If you want loud bass but muffled highs... go the amp/sub route. If you want clean highs, mids, but somewhat weak low end, get new speakers. It also depends on what kind of head unit and/or amp is driving your speakers. It doesn't make much sense to have $400 MB Quart speakers and run them off of a crappy stock head unit.

I got Infinity Kappa *Perfects*. They sound real nice, but I paid $295 for them at the time.

Then again, if you get a pro doing it, they can make anything sound fantastic.

Seriously, its the setup not the equipment. To an extent of course.

Say you get the best speakers, amp, woofers, headunit, and some $h1thead fvck puts em in his car.

Then you get some mild equipment and have a pro install em.

Guess what'll sound better - by far?

Then again, get pro speakers, and a pro installer, and u're set :p

<< Boss isn't exactly prime rib >>

Neither are Quarts... If you're looking for something that won't be so bright that it'll make your head hurt, look into some A/D/S or Dyn components...

Well here is my situation

I have the blaupunkt rpd435 as my head unit 35w
I want to add some 6x9 to replace my stock 6x9 and then add an amp later to push those 6x9

will I notice a difference over the stock speakers without the amp?

If you think Quarts are too bright maybe you should listen to quality sytem with them installed. I don't know how many awards mb quart has won for sound q and soundq+ They always get high remarks in every review I have read. I have saw one review that stated that the 6X9 are too bright, from some stupid european magazine, but those were crap anyways. Wasn't the first perfect score in sound q set with quarts? For a speaker that people trash alot, they hold their own in iasca and usac competitions. Anyways RF bought out mb quart so their product is going to go to crap. People who buy Dynaudio, or ads pay 50% more for maybe 10% increase in quality. The other good value I see are the Diamond audio ones if you are really against quarts. Most people who praise Dyn's or ads dont even have never used them in their vehicles. I have built over 300 sytems with quarts and never had one complaint about them being too bright. Any speaker is only as good as their installer.

Don't use 6X9's the performance is terrible no one makes a really good 6x9 even infinity's and quarts suck. You can usually put a 5 1/4" in the hole it was in with an adapter availabe from most car audio shops. If you want bass you really need subs. A good quality 8" is usualy enough for most people who liek their neighbors. I have built many systems with the jl audio microsub 8.1 and they sound awesome, well balanced, and don't require a massive amp ( or a lot of room). These are a favorite with clients with small trucks, or leased vehicles. Oh well Jl audios are probably crap too assume. The must sound to sloppy or some stupid claim like that. Maybe we need to buy $600 subs to get a 5% increase in performance.

BOSS had that armored car they used to compete with and that thing was one of the coolest demo vehicles I have seen.

The crystal CPE's seem to be at a good price on www.sounddomain.com for their performance and specs

I personally like the MB Q series, Im running 2 pair of Q components off PPI art series amps
and I got 3x12w6's running of a MMATS D200HC

I dont think getting the pair of MB Q's for the back was a good idea though, I think Im hearing phasing anomalies.. I will give it a better listen when I get some more time.. exams are killin me.

and YES install makes all the difference in the world :)

these are not no brand, altought they are pretty cheap little things but BOSS is a branch of ROLAND Corporations, which if you don't know is a very reputable musical instrument company.
