I'm looking to upgrade to a SATA HDD. And I have two quick questions.

First Question
I'm pretty sure of this, but what I wanted to be absolute...Are the SATA II (3.0Gbps) compatible with SATA150 mobo's?

Secon Question
Would I still be able to use my old ATA HD as a secondary storage drive (after reformatting of course) I didn't know if this would cause conflicts with booting from the SATA HD or not.

Thanks:thumbsup:

Why do you say "upgrade" to SATA? You're not going to see any kind of a big speed increase unless you're going to something like the Raptor. Don't fall for marketing hype.

Yes, the SATA II drives are completely backwards compatible. Yes, you can mix PATA and SATA drives on the same system, no problems. However, I recommend pulling the PATA (IDE) drive out until you get Windows installed, then add it afterwards. You may need to change your BIOS boot order to get the system to boot from the SATA drive because it seems the BIOS always prefers to boot from the normal IDE channels.
