I have been having a lot of problems with my computer, so I am going to start from the beginning with my story.
Three weeks ago my computer restarted while i was in the shower. This was before my last final on finals week, so i turned it off, brought it home with me, and have been trying to fix it ever since. Initally it would not stay booted. First thoughts were maybe processor or RAM. So i try my brothers RAM. Still doesnt work. So I buckle down and buy a new mother board, ASUS K8N-E socket 754 and a ATHLON XP 3200+ 64 bit.
When i go to put the Mobo into my case i realize the problem with my old computer is that my power supply was melted to my old motherboard. So i get a new powersupply put the new PS MOBO and CPU in my computer. so I have a Half new computer. I try to install windows and the first time through it works fine. I get everything set up and running, but then something was acting up so i Reinstall windows again. while trying to format its not working, keeps saying that there is not enough memory to verify the hard drive.
So i steal a 40 gig hd from my brother, try to install on that. As im installing it says that it is missing a file Driver.cab and gives me three options. hit enter to retry copying the file, escape to skip the file, and f3 to quit windows installation. i hit enter and retired a bunch of times and then finally hit escape. this is the only file that it cannot find during this install. so it gets installed and i use partition magic to clear the old hard drive then take it out and install on it, and it does the same thing.
now thinking it could be a RAM problem i buy new ram(PC3200 1 gig ddr400), i wanted the upgrade anyway. I install the ram and im still having the same problem installing windows, it cannot find this file. so i say forget it, and just install windows.
I play counterstike 1.6. i am getting serious frame lag. when i have task manager open i get 100% CPU usage while playing and my frames drop from 100 to 50 every time something happens on my screen.
So i purchase a new video card. I reinstall windows still having the driver.cab file problem, and after i get reinstalled i am still having the problem with the 100% cpu usage, and fps lag.
im 95% positive all of my drivers are up to date.
now, here is the wierd part. So i took that 40 gig hard drive to my friends house and put it in my friends computer and installed windows on it for her. and the install worked fine. so i come home thinking my hard drive was messed up.
i take my data hard drive and move all of my music to my other hard drive and try to install on that hard drive.
I can not get windows installed on it. I get the blue screen of death saying that there might be a problem with the ntfs.
Im really not sure what is wrong with my computer ive replaced everything except my hard drives, reinstalled windows and it is still giving me 100% cpu usage during CS and antivirus scans and some programs openning. with my specs it should not reach 100% with any of these.
Anyone have any ideas?
