Hi everyone i just got two identical drives from chiefvalue. They are 750GB western digital. I've had no problems with either drive but one drive seems to get quite a bit hotter. I let them idle down for a long time and they will get close in temperature but one of the drives with it is being accessed with get a lot hotter. 1 drive gets to a maximum of about 93-95. Ive seen this other drive go up to 115. Is this anything you think i should worry about. Should i return it to chiefvalue and get another one?

thanks,
ncage

Switch them around, and check the temperatures again.

One of the drives might be getting a better airflow, and is being cooled better...

If the problem persists, I would replace the "hot" drive.

Actually the one that is hot is out of the computer now. It was in my server and i thought maybe because the power supply wasn't as good in my server machine (older enermax 400w compared to a 700w OCZ that would make it hotter). So i got the hard drive caddy and put it next to my workstation and hooked it up. Its still staying at least 9-10 degrees hotter. Ok i just checked the drives after some time of inactivity:

main drive in workstation temp 78
other drive that was in server 91

I'm thinking i should return it just to be on the safe side. What do you think?
