I seem to remember seeing a thread about this, but I cannot find it. In any case, that thread had a lot of questionable speculation.

Today, a thread appeared on FatWallet.

http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/deal-discussion/1023340

In short, Russ S McGuire (all Sprint customers should know him as the Sprint VP who gives out his info for the EPRP phone deals) has said that starting in October, SERO customers will be able to upgrade their plans to include phones that were previously blocked from SERO plans. These phones include anything based on WebOS, Android, and some other operating systems. The cost of the upgrade will be an additional $10 per month for most phones, and $20 per month for 4G phones, such as the EVO.

I'm on my 4th year of Sero with my Moto Q. Crossing fingers as I want to keep using it till it dies.

If this turns out to be true, I will jump all over it for an EVO or Epic.
Sitting pat with my Touch Pro until then. :(

Same here. I like the TP but the EVO would be very, very nice. Not $30.00 extra a month nice though, but for an additional $10.00 it's a no-brainer.

The general consensus at sprintusers is that this is for some certain employee and third party employee plans. Not regular SERO and legacy plans. This would do more harm than good. For all the people they have pissed off making them move to new plans to get new phone they will have a ton of people with very high MRC"s leave. They would have been smart to do this two years ago when the Pre came out, they would be stupid to do it now.

I think SERO users will pay $10 add on for Android and WebOS with 3G and additional $10 ($20 total) for 4G phones.

it doesnt really make sense, unless like 20 percent of their customers are still SERO ones. either a lot of people are still clutching onto their old plans, or this is just a rumor.

i have sero500 with a treo pro. i would love to get a new phone mainly just to have better speaker quality... but an android phone would be nice. $20 a month for 4g though? thats $50 a month then plus tax, isnt that close to the same as the current "sero" plan thats $60 a month?

also, winmo7 is coming this fall, and me being that guy, ill be buying a win7 phone as soon as i can if they allow me to use it with sero...

Because originally the focus of that thread was SWAC, and generally as SWAC plans go, so does SERO; however, that same thread links Russ McGuire's blog that everyone else is linking, and he has already confirmed the new SERO plans....

Seems to be working well for people in the thread over at FatWallet. They are getting renewal and phone discounts.
