Possible Explanation for Varying Socket-Thermistor Compression Ratios

With any socket-thermistor setup, you get, at best, 1% of the thermistor contacting backside PCB. The other 99% are contacting socket air, which might explain why any small amount of airflow can disrupt the socket-thermistor reading.

Mike, Have you ever tried a little AS on the thermister tip ?? I recall getting temps quite a bit higher doing this.

I'm still in the process of rebuilding a kt7 test setup... NOt entirely sure of what to do, but will almost certainly use grease on the thermistor... in fact... ;)


If you grease the whole thing, it may act as insulation that reduces air interference in hte measured temp... ;)(wait, that sounds really bad).
