Of those, I learned that the DVDs (and all storage media) are 10% off. The I did not get a clear answer on the others, although I'd imagine it would be an even lower markdown than the DVD's (and the guy was still under the illusion that ps3s were going for 1k on eBay). I'll probably try again in a week to see if I can score some cheap component video cables.

which boston area store? There is no Boston Compusa so i willa ssume you mean Brighton or even Woburn or perhaps Natick?

FYI, Well the Washington Post just indicated that the stores in the greater DC area will close giving Bestbuy and Circuit City control of the area Tyson Corner, Fairfax, Woodbridge are the VA stores closing and in MD - Rockville and Gaithersburg. I'll check this out tomorrow and see whats being discounted and advise.

Checking the one here in Buffalo, NY, they were having 20% off deals on very select items. It ranges from unexciting (cables and whatnot) to decent with 20% of cases and PSU's, which still does not put them on par to prices offered on say, Newegg.

There were also 5% off of every laptop, but again, not exciting.

i got an AMD 4200+ X2 for $125 instead of $192 at newegg. not bad. the good core too.

also i got wii play (hard to find anyway) for 30% off.

all xbox360 games were 30% off too.

i think everything in the sore was at least 30% off that wasn't a computer or a monitor.

I worked at the Buffalo store, the hearsay around the store is that they're just going to discount the peripherals and such, then send any big items to the Rochester store. When I worked there I got the cost price + any mfr rebates, but even with that, the online deals were much better unless it was a massive case/PSU with some hefty shipping charges. Cables had the most markup. I got a $21.99 usb cable for $3.50ish. The only good deals I found was a router, some cables, new games for a few bucks off, and my monitor for ~$25 cheaper than Newegg. I hope fry's buys them out once they slim down and pay off some bills, at last then they'd be in the North East.

I just stopped by the store in King of Prussia, PA. Signs outside say 20% off entire store but all the good stuff, games, tvs, computers, etc. are only 5 or 10% off. I didn't see a single thing worth buying...

I remember the CompUSA store near my place in Torrance, CA closed a few months back-nearly everything in the store was 60% off. I bought about 5 games, a few case mods, and a new headset for half what they were worth. Its sad that they are closing, but then again, this means savings on your part. Definitely worth checking out.

I'm not too sad though-I got a Office Depot, Staples, Officemax, Best Buy, Circuit City, PCMall and a Fry's all within easy driving range.

Correct me if I am wrong, but most if not all of the stores were also former ComputerCity stores that CrapUSA bought out, and I expect the same crappy "liquidation sale" to be only a bargin when they are a week away from actually closing the stores. Other times, it is MSRP - 10-30% which can't match most online places (which is why they are getting rid of the stores in the first place.)

Closest store here was 60 mins away...now it will be 3 hours away. Oh well. No love loss here.
