Yesterday I recieved a Chaintech vnf4 motherboard (not ultra) along with a athlon64 3000, pqi 256MB ram PC3200 and a saphire x600pro. I put everything together and it all worked very nice, I was installing some drivers when I hear sparks, but the computer is still going, then I go and check it out and I see some cables from a case fan I had not covered touch the video card and the computer turns off. Now it won't turn on. And when I plug in the power conectors to the board (without pressing the power button) an integrated circuit and a capacitator close to the bios rom get very hot, it's a c5706 but i haven't found anything about it on google yet. Is there anything I can do for this board ??

Hi, and welcome to the forums.

What do you mean you heard sparks?
Look very closely for
a) little black scorch marks around all connectors/capacitors
b) bulging capacitors [they should have flat tops, if they are bulging even slightly, then they are caput)
if in doubt RMA, and if you are lucky, there was no collateral damage
RMA

I mean that I heard that sound like when two wires cross and sparks come out, can't find a word for it in english :)
I can't find any bulging capacitors or scorch marks, everything seems ok, and i've tried 3 different power supplies and still
won't turn on, the last psu i tried, started to smell like it was burning, but i worked fine when I placed it back on the other pc.
Although this board has a 24pin atx connector, all my PSUs have 20pins, but still, it used to work with 20 pins.
