Hello guys,
My computer was beginning to take longer than usual to open programs and sometimes lockup.
After scanning for adware ,trogans and virsus and defraging HD no help ,so I thought I would
try a repair .I allready had SP2 Installed so I decided to slip stream SP2 onto a CD. After booting up by CD and running repair found out Windows was no longer recognizing my video card ,so I took it out and replaced it,no good then I disabled the windows video device . When I tried to boot again I got as far as
the Windows logo then my screen goes dark I can hear windows booting up but no display. I cannot boot
into safe mode ,have tried all the choices it gives me which includes enabling VGA it gets to press esc to
stop 347 bus and freezes.Have put in another HD and used the HD I was having trouble with as secondary
master and can access the files on it . thought maybe I had somehow corrupted my MBR when I get into
the repair console and ask about fixing MBR I get a warning :This computer appears to have a non-standard or invalid Master boot record
Fixmbr may damage your partition table if you proceed.
Should I proceed or is there another solution?
Any help will be appreciated.

347 bus is daemon tools, if your not using daemon tools then what other emulation software are you using. when going into safe mode just have your finger on the ESC key and hit escape the minute that option comes up, and it will bypass loading that sys file. if it still wont work and you absolutely cant get into safe mode try hitting F8 when you turn on your pc and choose "Last Known Good" that might work but it might not

if all its doing is having troubles with running slow and such the mbr is most likely not the issue. the mbr or master boot record simply contains the info about the boot partitions and locations.

the Fat Table is more what your thinking might be the issue.
the fat table (although i dont know if NTFS contains a fat table persay) contains all the info of your drive, its like an index of all files and locations of them on the drive. and the sectors and such of the drive.
i have had 1 drive go bad in the fat table and the first thing you notice is files and folders with really whacky names, they arent even alpha/numeric characters, they are ascii characters. and you cant access them or delete them.

there is another thing like the fat table and mbr that can cause issues like your talking about and for the life of me i am drawing a total blank on the name but ill report back when i remember it.

one program or program suite i have and use dillegantly is Hiren's Boot CD or Bart's Boot cd is its other name,
it contains a plethora of hard disk and system tool that can fix/repair/format/low level format a drive, i love it and use it anytime i start having issues with a drive.

"I disabled the windows video device ."
i have no clue why you disabled the windows video device but that was foolish, now windows has no video device to use when it boots up cuz you disabled it, thats why it gets to the laoding screen then goes blank. cuz instead of initialising the video card you disabled it so it has nothing to use.
i have no clue how your gunna get it back but one of the first things you should do is reformat your hard drive and reload windows and all your programs.
if you have never made a backup of all your important stuff then you MIGHT me out of luck. but since your using it as a secondary now you can at least back up stuff onto your current working drive. BUT there is another way
boot to the windows xp cd and choose install windows, then choose to install windows where your current windows installation already is.
it will ask you to delete the current windows folder and install windows, just tell it yes,, do not let it format your hard drive, this, again, will destroy all data on the drive, unless of course you dont care, then when the xp cd boots up choose install windows, then tell it to delete the partition should be the C: drive and tell it to delete any other partition on that SAME hard drive. (i recommend unhooking any other hard drives you might have so you dont accidentally delete a good drive.
once thats done the old partition will be labelled,, oh man lol i cant recall,, but its something like unpartitioned space or similar.
just make sure thats highlighted and hit enter then choose to install windows therea dn tell it to format the drive as NTFS.
it will fomat the hard drive and install windows. you will then , of course need to go thru the process of loading all your drivers when its done.

Thanks for the help Poopy Pants
Yes you are right about it being foolish to disable the windows video device ,but Ihave never beenn accused of being the sharpest blade in the drawer .Finally just had to reformat and start over ,but had backed up my important files . Have brought a copy of Norton Ghost 9.0 and will use it ,I like to piddle around to much on my computer not to have allready done it .
Thanks again !
