In the Sunday ad they have the 10x burner advertised for $150 after rebate. There are 2 different SKUs listed in the ad. I checked on the Compusa website and one of the SKUs #276942 comes up as the Sony Supressa 12x burner. I remember several months ago Compusa did the samething and I was able to buy the Sony 10x for the advertised price of the 8x. I plan on going to Compusa to check on this as soon as they open this morning. I'll report back. 12x Sony for $150 would be a steal!

Just returned from Compusa with my 12x Sony Suppressa Burner. $200-$50 Rebate =$150. The 10x and the 12x are the same price. The store in Bloomington, MN had one left. You can check the inventory at the Compusa store near you by going to Compusa.com and putting in the SKU#276942:D

The sony spressas are nice, but nero has been screwing up vcd's for me lately..so I gotta use VCD Imager (creates a bin/cue file) and burn it with fireburner (the sweet thing is, now it displays the time progressed in my Pioneer 525, it otherwise only said "PBC Play"). I have a 10x4x32x SCSI External Sony Spressa, and of course SCSI is the ONLY way to go ;)

I called compusa and they told me the deal was on the 10x, not the 12x, although the sku# in their flier was the 276842 which I thought you said was for the 12x. How did u get the 12x?

Go to the Compusa and get your drive. The 12x will ring up at $199.99 at the register. The rebate is good for both the 10x and the 12x. I just did this deal and had no problem.

This is a SONY Spressa Model # CRX160E-A1 for $199.00 - 50.00 REbate its a 12X 8X 32x drive
I bought this from COMPUSA Sku #276942 for $199.00 - 50 dollar rebate.
Many stores are out of the 10X but the 12x write, 8x rewrite, 32x read they have tons in stock so why not just buy those.

ENJOY -- The hard drive is on sale at compusa too its Western digital 45 gig 5400rpm drive. for only $99.00

Bubba,

SKU # 276942 (the 12x burner) is listed along with SKU # 273651 (the 10X burner) in the sales flyer. Bring the flyer into the store and have them adjust the price for you. I don't think this is a typo. Go for it. Sue 'em if they don't give it to you for the advertised price. I'm on my way to the store now. I'll let y'all know how it works out.

I tried and they wouldn't give it to me for $199. I argued for a bit. The jerk at the counter said to talk to the attourney general... @$$.

that's when you ask for the MOD (manager on duty) and if he/she still doesnt give it to you, you ask for the GM (general manager). and if he/she STILL doesnt give it to you, you politely ask for the regional sales director of that region and get all the corporate information you can. at this point, they'll be alot nicer... if not, then you really do call up the corporate 1800# and you'll end up getting what you want.

personally, i've never gotten to the point of having to ask for corporate as the General Manager knows that corporate management really frowns upon petty customer issues like these that should be resolved at the store instead of having been escalated to corporate level.

Yes, they scanned it and it rang up at $279. I just called another store and asked for a price based on the SKU. They too said $279. What can I do to get it for $199 without raising too much hell?

I guess sometimes you just gotta raise hell :). I had a hard enough time getting that WinTV deal for $20 when it was marked at $99 at Office Depot. It just made me nervous. After that first run though I realized it isn't so hard. Just feel comfortable in the fact that you will get it for the price you want. If someone is an obstacle, go over their head to the next person up (detailed above).

Does this drive support RAW?

Maybe someone who got it for $199 could scan receipt for you and you could try again? Sorry I don't have scanner.

Does this drive have BURN-PROOF ? I would imagine you'll make plenty of coasters without it.

The SKU is listed right on the flier, wonder how they could not honor it. BTW, this is a EIDE drive, and the requirement on the box said you need a PII400. Does anyone has any idea how this compares to a SCSI drive?
