possible bidpay.com scam?

Hi,

I've put a notebook for sale on online classified and a guy contacted me and said he was interested. I wanted to sell it local to avoid all the hassel of shipping and getting paid online and stuff. Turned out he wasn't from local.
I told him he can send US postal money order (I'm in Canada by the way).
and he replied he could send me money through bidpay.
I was wondering if there's any danger or possible scam getting paid by bidpay?

Reason I'm feeling little suspicious is that this guy never asked about the description/condition/spec of the item and didn't try to negotiate on the price (well I put it as firm price on the ad though, but still...)

any feedback is appreciated.

if he doesn't ask description/condition/spec, then don't sell. at the minimum, get a cashier's check/money order first before you ship out.

I would be careful with cashier's checks even. Bidpay & western union are notorious for scams. I just got one the other day for a posting on craigslist and he wanted to pay via bidpay. I would stick to selling it locally...

Of course I should get paid in full first to do anything.
I don't know how bidpay really works. (I'm with paypal but I've got limited amount a month I can receive and it's about U$500 only).
Can someone fool you using bidpay?

Hello,
My name is bishop i work with CNN as a news reporter I want to buy your

proceed in buying the item i want you to know that I am buying the item
for my brother's wedding anniversary which will take place next week and i
intend to take her by suprise this time and before am going ahead for the
payment..I will like to know maybe you can accept my means of payment via
western union auction payment (BIDPAY).Once i made the payment and as soon as my
payment is approved by bidpay, i will like to ship the item immediately through
Fed-ex.As for the shipping, you dont have to pay adime for it cos i will be
responsible for the shipping to destination.Uppon approval of payment,
i will send you a fed-ex prepaid shipping label and an invoice to you
which you will paste on the package before they pick it up.I will like
to read from you if this is okay by you. Let me have your full name and
address so that i can proceed with the payment. Thanks...

Im suspecting yours wasn't as obvious as this one was...but you get the point.

The scam involving bidpay is the buyer will say "payment has been sent" 'then you get a FAKE email confirming their payment, saying it's OK to ship, etc. As long as you actually verify that you have a cleared payment online/in your account OR that + wait until you have the actual, physical MO in your hands, it should be fine. Plus just like PayPal, do not ship to any address except the one they use to process their bidypay payment.

Key things to look for:

wire transfer/western union/bidpay
willing to pay you more than what you asked
willing to pay extra for shipping
no questions
horrible grasp of the english language

So even with any form of payment, as long as I ship the item after payment is physically cleared, it should be fine. right?

one more question about how bidpay actually works.
Do bidpay send physical moneyorder to receiver by mail?
So if I receive, I can just go to any bank and deposit it? Even then I should wait for it to clear like personal cheques?

sorry more than one questions :)

You can sign up with a linked bank account, the payment will be transferred into your account. Other option is to receive a money order in the mail. this is for the US, not certain if it's all the same for Canada or not.

I know that canadians can get a US MO at the post office...dunno how receiving one works...I imagine that when you cash it at your bank they will do the conversion for you?
