Possible bad situation on eBay about to unfold with one of my auctions...

NFS4

No Lifer
OK, so I sold an item on eBay to a person. Person bid on it with a 0 feedback rating as a new users (not uncommon for me, never really had a problem before). It's been around 3 days since the auction ended so last night I checked to see if payment had been received...nope, not yet. Then I noticed that his feedback rating had dropped to -1 and that he started leaving retaliatory feedback. In fact, he screwed a guy that had a 100% positive rating (feedback score of 300+).

Then this morning, I notice that his feedback has dropped to -2 as yet another buyer has been stung by this prick (no contact, no email, no payment).

Now I'm likely to be next if I take action against him. How would you suggest I go about approaching this guy?? I've got a feedback of nearly 800 with all positives

I'd just file the nonpaying bidder alert, but don't post negative feedback against him.

With a -2 people are already going to know to avoid him, and hopefully he won't leave a negative for you.

If he leaves a negative for you, you're pretty much SOL. eBay pricks can be retarted.. good news is that if people check your feedback and realize it's from a deadbeat, they disregard it.

I've heard of people leaving negatives based on the items you're selling. I remember taxidermy was being sold on eBay and some guy who was against the killing of animals won a few auctions on taxidermy and negatived people for it. So what items do you sell?

If you get a negative it's no big deal, especially if you have so many positives.

I got 2 negatives just because I gave someone else one.

Mostly computer related stuff, some toys.

Same happened to me. One of my negs just says "???". LoL! But I've still got a 142 rating, so no worries.

Agreed, Someone gave me a retalitory negative because i left them with a neutral. It was obvious that they were just being losers. All my other positives say im a great ebayer 😛

I've got ebay woes as well. I won a motorcycle helmet for $1. It doesn't suprise me that I was the only bidder, the helmet has pink accents. Anyways, the guys emails me and tells me that he 'forgot' to put a reserve price on and says he won't sell it for the $1 that the auction went for. Sorry dude, doesn't work that way.

Well, it does for him.😉

That's what negatives are for.

I'd say you want to file a non paying bidder complaint with ebay and leave the guy be. They may ban him before he can retaliate against you... If you dont actually leave him neg feedback, he may not give you neg feedback...

On that topic... a few years back... Back when CD writers were just coming into the market and a 2x2x6 CDRW was standard... I bought one on ebay... and the guy (who has since been banned from ebay)... Took over a month to send my CDRW. I filed a complaint with ebay and neg feedbacked him... He then proceeded to retaliate against me for my negative...

Long story short... people still deal with me on ebay... Im sure anyone who checks my 1 neg and 1 neutral out will see.... both people have been banned from ebay for being dipshits.

Perfect feedback is nice... but folks will still shop with you anyway.

Maybe. I'm still going to try and get my pink helmet.

This happened to me ONCE. It's a bad situation and it sucks to have a perfect eBay feedback blemished by one jerk.

iono i don't think it's that bad of a thing

a 98/99%+ rating is what i'm looking for from a seller

that being said, i'm still at 100 😛

A one-hitter in baseball is pretty good, but a perfect game is better. NSF4 wouldn't have posted this if it wasn't a big deal to HIM. Personally I agree. I have one negative feedback resulting from a situation similar to his. I'm still at 99.8% positive, but it still sucks to have to see that blemish when you know you didn't do anything wrong. Might not make much difference to the buyer if someone is 99.8% or 100%, but it sure makes a difference to people who pride themselves on a perfect record.

It's either -3 or -4 that an eBay user is automatically NARUd (Not A Registered User ... banned). Look it up, and if he'll get auto banned then negative him 🙂

That's exactly it. I try to make all of my customers happy. I always go the extra mile. I'm willing to do what it takes to make them happy within reason.

Take for example a couple of days ago. A person who won one of my auctions contacted me and said that his package which was scheduled for delivery on the 14th hadn't arrived yet (this was on the 16th). Turns out that DHL must have been having some massive issues b/c his package was showing "out for delivery" 3 days in the row. I could have told him to fvck off and wait for it, but I told him that I would contact the shipping company and see what was up. I called DHL and gave them a piece of my mind and they assured me that it would be delivered the next business day. I contacted the buyer back and told him that I had taken care of things and that he would have his package the next day. Sure enough, DHL delivered the package bright and early the next morning. Well, I next thing I know, I got feedback from that buyer:

"THANKS FOR THE EXTRA EFORT YOU DID FOR ME,GOOD DOING BUSINESS WITH YOU"

Like I said, I try to go the extra mile for people, and it pays off with good feedback. I don't screw over my customers, so I don't expect to get screwed in return.

I have a neg from a -3, he is still a member though he hasn't used that account since.

Leave him a positive feedback "GREAT EBAYER, WOULD DO BUSINESS AGAIN!!!!11oneeleven A++++++++++++"
That'll throw him for a loop.

The fear of getting that first neg is what allows crappy ebayers to get away with murder. Does anyone seriously avoid buying from someone with 99.8% positive feedback just because of the 0.2% negs? I don't think so.

I see all the time in the collectibles area where bad ebayers (both buyers and sellers) keep a perfect record because people are too afraid to leave a neg. The bad ebayer ends up screwing person after person, and none of the screwees will leave a neg because of the fear of retaliation.

People buy items, they don't look for 100% positive feedback sellers then decide to buy whatever they are offering at the time. Well, maybe bad ebay buyers do look for 100% feedback sellers, figuring they can screw them over without getting a neg.
