Possible bad Dish reciever?

My tv when turned to the satellite is all jacked up. I can 1/2 ass see what's on, but the screen is covered with green lines and blocking. If i turn to the input with the Wii or 360 it work fine.

How is the Dish box connected to the TV? HDMI? Component? What about the other stuff?

RCA cables. The audio goes to my receiver and the video plug goes to my tv Video 3 hookup. It has worked fine for about a year now, it just started this yesterday. The sound comes through just fine.

Do you have another cable you could swap in there just to test that out? If that doesn't help, change inputs (plug the Dish box into where the Wii is usually hooked up) to check if maybe that input has gone bad.

If neither of those help, then yeah, it certainly is possible that the box has crapped out.

I tried no luck. I just unhooked the cable coming from the wall/dish outside and plugged it directly into my tv antenna inputs, same thing is happening. The tv is acting like it is freezing up. I will have the ability to change channels, menu etc, then it will freeze up. Then a few seconds later it will unfreeze and it keeps repeating the process. I hear what almost sounds like a hard drive being accessed. My component inputs worked, but there is a delay sometimes. Is this what happens hen a bulb goes bad?

Why would I be having a delay on the components now, hopefully the tv isn't shittin out, well that would be an excuse for a new one!

Can you try the Dish box on another set ? ? If it is good there, then it is not the Dish box .. My guess is either a bad RCA cable or the Video Input board on the TV has a problem. At least we know with almost certainty that the main circuits in the tv are ok or the XBox would not work properly. The video input board, has some caps for coupling and also an IC that switches the Video / Audio from the various inputs to the associated signal processing sections inside the tv. That board, is usually easily replaced, but it may not be cheap.

I had the power plug to the tv unhooked for several hours and now it's working. When I first hooked it up it was messing up but then started working
