Possiable to replace broken LCD on labtop?

So my friends girlfriend steped on her labtop and cracked the LCD. Its a IBM Thinkpad and best buy wants 700 + labor to fix it. Can i buy a new LCD and just swap it out, is it easy/possiable? Now its one of these deal where she got it from school on rent so thats why i'm wanting to fix it and now just buy a new one.

Check on Ebay for a cheapo w/ other bad components to use for the parts. 😉

Yeah ebay or even the forums here might be worth doing a WTB posting. Some Anandtecher's have amazing things in their closets.

If you can find one on Ebay, it not that hard to replace the LCD if you are comfortable working on machines, it is just a couple of cables that have to be hooked up in most cases.
