I have the ASUS 7700 (pure, 32 ram) running on my abit kt7a mb, with tb santa cruz as my sound card, and windows xp home as my os. I had to do a fresh install recently, and I reinstalled smart doctor. Now, when I shutdown, the VGAProbe program doesn't want to and sometimes the smart doctor comes up with a warning that my rpm is around 1350 (normally 5100+), now windows is saying the same thing. I'm not playing any games, and I usually find this when the 'puter has been left alone and the screensaver has been running. My thinking is; if it's bad, it should be bad all the time. When I reboot, smart doctor says everything is good. I've only had this card since July of last year, do I/ should I plan to go shopping for a new video card?

I don't think this problem has anything to do with the video card. ASUS has been known for making one of the best, and most solid cards. (And the most expensive). I'm not sure if the ABIT KT7A is a VIA chipset, but if it is, try the 4in1 drivers. They tend to fix just about most of the Video card problems.
